Michelle, played by Jamie-Lee O’Donnell is a bit crass in her demeanor, and Clare is played by Nicola Coughlan. Michelle also has a cousin from England named James, played by Dylan Llewellyn. The group of girls attend an all-girls school. However, James also attends the school since he has a thick English accent and is awkward, so they fear he will be bulled at the boy’s school.
Sex Education
While there is always underlying sexual tension with high school shows, this one takes it beyond the accepted norm. As the name somewhat cleverly attempts to portray, the show is about a group of teenagers who are struggling with concepts of sexuality. The characters are experimenting with their sexuality and are having or attempting to have a lot of sex. However, no one seems to be enjoying this part of their growing up process. Otis, the son of a prominent sex therapist, steps in. In addition to being exposed to his mother’s therapy ideas, he has been through some trauma as a child as well. A delinquent named Maeve enters the scene and hooks up with Otis to make some money using his therapy skills to “treat” their classmates’ neuroses. Ultimately, the show points out that sex has consequences that go beyond the short-lived physical pleasure.
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness
This documentary centered around a crime mystery wasn’t the first focus of the film director at the time. Director Eric Goode set out to document the happenings of a snake dealer in Florida. In doing so, he stumbled upon the big cat ownership world and its Tiger King. The Tiger King is Joe Exotic who is outlandish with an intertwining wild tale to tell. Joe owns a big cat zoo and is a country musician who was convicted in 2019 of trying to put a hit out on an animal rights activist named Carole Baskin. The show is not only the creation of Eric Goode but also of Rebecca Chaiklin and has kept viewers captivated and discussing their thoughts on social media throughout the season.
The Good Place
Ted Danson was an iconic star from the 1980s popular sit-com Cheers. But, he proves that he was never type cast in his numerous successes and other endeavors on screen since then. This one is about bureaucratic mix ups of an entirely different cosmic level. Ted Danson finds himself playing co-star with Kristen Bell who plays the part of Eleanor Shellstrop. The setting is the afterlife where Eleanor has found herself in a nice neighborhood that was built by cosmic architect Michael, Ted Danson. When she was living, Eleanor was anything but kind and certainly not deserving of this afterlife in the good place. It was all a result of a bureaucratic mistake. In order to stay there, she has to learn how to behave like a good person, or she risks being sent to the bad place.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
When musicals done as a television show are viewed as a bit over-the-top corny, this one plays on that to deliver an absurd musical dramedy. The show is focused on a high-strung lawyer who leaves her well-respected career in New York to move to West Covina, California and pursue her first crush, Josh. In almost a stalker move, the show busts out with an outlandish song and dance number to break and laugh at any potential tension. Transformers War For Cybertron Trilogy
Any child of the 1980s, 90s, or even 2000s have enjoyed the amazing toys that transform from vehicles into robots, so the animated series goes way back. The animation has only gotten better as well, now with CGI that only serves to enhance the original look. A story of a couple of misfit females who are aspiring actors. Turns out the wrestling league is an all-female wrestling league that is supervised by a washed up director named Sam Sylvia. Ruth has a former friend named Debbie Gilpin who also auditions. The supervisor decides to make the two girls the central focus of the league’s story: Gilpin the heroic “Liberty Belle” and Wilder the villain “Zoya the Destroya.” The show has run 4 seasons and was created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch starring Alison Brie, Marc Maron, and Betty Gilpin.
Altered Carbon
Created by Laeta Kalogridis and starring Chris Conner, this 2-season series is an adaptation of the popular cyberpunk novel by Richard K. Morgan by the same title. The setting is a few hundred years in the future when humanity has developed the technology to download a person’s consciousness onto a computer. People are now able to transfer themselves into different bodies known as sleeves. This means they essentially make themselves to be immortal, provided they have the funds to cover the process. Takeshi Kovacs is a former soldier who has been in cold storage for 250 years but is now back in a new sleeve thanks to Laurens Bancroft who is a wealthy man. Laurens wants Takeshi to find the man who killed his previous body.
Star Trek: The Next Generation
This show has quite a long history and has spanned 7 seasons for just this version of it. It has been one of the most popular science fiction TV series of all time. This series was created in 1987, more than 20 years after the original series aired. It follows the exploits of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his space-faring crew aboard the new USS Enterprise. It consists of 187 episodes that include Romulans and the Borg. Even though the original crew is hardly represented throughout this series, it does maintain the wish to “live long and prosper.” The creator is Gene Roddenberry, and the cast includes Patrick Steward, Brent Spiner, and Jonathan Frakes.

The setting for this eerie drama is a small town with a protagonist who is a teen. It is a German Netflix series with a setting in a town where everyone has a secret of their own. It starts in Winden, a town with plenty of woods located near a nuclear reactor. Jonas, the teen protagonist played by Louis Hoffman, returns to school after having spent some time receiving therapy following his dad’s suicide. It didn’t take long before he was in shock over an entirely new traumatic event that involved the disappearance of his fellow student, Erik Obendorf. Erik isn’t the first child to go missing in the area. Jonas and his friends discover they are on the edge of a mystery that goes back for several generations.
Black Mirror
This series is often compared to The Twilight Zone, since each and every episode of Black Mirror tells an individual story. Making A Murderer
The show tells the horribly tragic story of a man from Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Steven Avery. After he had served 18 years in prison for a horrific sexual assault and attempted murder crime, new evidence emerged proving his claims of innocence that he held all along. Now, at the age of 41, he is a free man. However, he still has a lot to work through to clear his name. He sued Manitowoc County for $36 million in damages, but before the suit can be finalized he is once again tied to another horrible crime. This time, he is accused of having a hand in the disappearance and assumed death of photographer Teresa Halbach. Now, he is facing the same judges and people who put him in jail years ago.
Planet Earth
This beautifully cinematic documentary is about the planet earth. Netflix teamed up with the BBC to present this amazing show with 11 complete episodes over the course of one season. BBC is the creator of the series with a cast of David Attenborough, Sigourney Weaver, and Huw Cordey. It takes viewers around the world and lets them see parts of the earth they have never seen before and most likely never will other than on screen. From the deep open ocean to the jungles of Uganda, this documentary series reveals some of the most interesting corners of the world. David Attenborough narrates the expeditions.
The Keepers
Why would someone murder a nun? That is the question this series seeks to answer as it follows a documentary into the efforts to uncover who murdered Sister Cathy Cesnik and left her near a garbage dump in the winter of 1969. Two former students of the nun seek to find out. Gemma and Abbie also reveal the atmosphere of Seton Keough High School as well. It quickly becomes evident that sexual abuse was systemic and part of a scandal at the time that Sister Cathy Cesnik may have tried to put an end to. The story explores how an institution may have covered up corruption that cost the sister her life.
The Twilight Zone
A mysterious classic on late night television, Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone has been given new life on screen. Even if you never saw a single episode, you will recognize the term “Twilight Zone” as referring to strange and bizarre, unbelievable events and happenings. Each episode tells a unique story of its own inside a science fiction script that intertwines various realms of reality with horror or just plain mysteries that make you think and boggle your thinking. Many episodes parallel Cold War events that were happening at the time of the original show. The show was Rod Serling’s creation, but he also starred in it along with Robert McCord and Jay Overholts to name a few on the 5-season series.

When a homecoming queen is murdered, FBI agent Dale Cooper shows up in a small Washington town to begin the investigation. Plenty of weird encounters are presented that spans the gamut from homicidal demons to cryptic dreams or look-alikes of people who are supposed to be dead. The murder mystery series that has spanned two seasons of drama offers a unique eccentric set of characters and tons of memorable moments. Created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, and starring Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Ontkean, and Mädchen Amick, this show was a cult classic from the beginning of the 1990s that has re-emerged.
Hannibal
Based on the Thomas Harris’ trilogy novels and The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal takes a new look at Hannibal Lecter, a notorious cannibal. Created by Bryan Fuller, the show stars Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, and Caroline Dhavernas and spans three seasons to date. Hugh Dancy plays the role of a gifted criminal profiler named Will Graham. Will’s way of thinking is unique in that it allows him to empathize with anyone, including psychopaths. While he is pursuing an extremely difficult FBI case, he makes the decision to call upon the help of psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter, played by Mads Mikkelsen. The two become very adept at catching villains together as a team. Unfortunately, Hannibal tends to find himself pulled toward his dark secret in his mind until he eventually has more in common with the criminals than what Will can comprehend.
