JoJo Siwa Talks About Love and Who She Really Is
JoJo Siwa is opening up again, this time about love and how she sees herself. The 22 year old star who grew up on Dance Moms shared that her new relationship with Chris Hughes has made her think differently about identity and how people see her.
In a recent interview she said that dealing with the public’s reaction hasn’t been easy. “People tear it apart,” she admitted. She explained that many people don’t understand what it’s like to realize something new about yourself and still feel like you can’t change.
JoJo met Chris on Celebrity Big Brother UK and they quickly became close friends. At the time she never thought they would end up as a couple. “It’s strange in the best way,” she said. “When someone comes into your life and it feels right you just know.”
She confirmed their relationship earlier this month and described it as something beautiful and honest. “It’s not just friendship anymore,” she said. “I’m completely in love and he feels the same.”
Before meeting Chris she was in a relationship with actor Kath Ebbs who identifies as non binary. JoJo said Chris had nothing to do with their breakup and that their connection grew naturally afterward.
She also spoke about how she now defines herself. “I’ve dated women, I’ve dated non binary people, I’ve dated men,” she said. “I’ve realized I just like humans. That’s who I am.”
Some people online have called the relationship a PR stunt but JoJo isn’t bothered. “Anyone who’s seen us together knows how real it is,” she said. “I’m just so happy right now. I actually had to massage my cheeks because I couldn’t stop smiling.”
JoJo has spent most of her life growing up in front of cameras but this time she seems calm and sure of herself. It feels like she’s finally learning what happiness really looks like and she’s not afraid to show it.
